How to Apply
About the 2020 CIFAR DLRL Summer School Edition
July 29 – August 6, 2020 – Montreal, Quebec
This year’s DLRL Summer School is hosted by Mila, the Quebec Artificial Intelligence Institute in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
The event brings together graduate students, post-docs and professionals to cover the foundational research, new developments, and real-world applications of deep learning and reinforcement learning. It is a one-of-a-kind, community-building event with a mission to foster the next generation of researchers in the fields of Deep Learning and Reinforcement Learning.
The Deep Learning and Reinforcement Learning Summer Schools are aimed at students, postdocs, and researchers in quantitative disciplines, who have knowledge of machine learning, deep learning and reinforcement learning.
It assumes a Bachelor’s degree in a computational discipline (e.g. computer science/engineering, mathematics and statistics) and familiarity with a scripting language for scientific programming (e.g. Python, Matlab or R).
How are Applications Selected?
DLRLSS will use a scoring system to select the majority of participants. Decisions will be made scholastically, and applicants with a higher score have a higher probability of being accepted. The scoring system favours applicants who are graduate students and whose research areas are closer to the scope of the summer school. It also favours applicants who are from a Canadian university, an under-represented group, contribute to a research blog or an open-source project, and those who have not attended the schools before.
Selected applicants will receive a confirmation e-mail by March 20, 2020. Applicants who have not been selected will not be contacted.
